Course Overview

The Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pre-apprenticeship) will prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge for entry into an apprenticeship (Certificate III trade qualification) in one of the various sectors of the building and construction industry. The outcome of the Certificate II in Building and Construction (Pre-apprenticeship) does not meet the requirements for a qualified tradesperson. This course is designed specifically for those from a range of age groups and backgrounds interested in obtaining employment as an apprentice in building and construction. Successful course graduates would continue into the nationally endorsed Certificate III qualifications relevant to their chosen trade stream (for example, carpentry, bricklaying, wall and floor tiling, painting and decorating, solid plastering, stonemasonry, or joinery).
