CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing

The Certificate III in Plumbing provides graduates with the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified plumber in the building and construction industry. This nationally recognised trade qualification covers the full scope of plumbing work, including water supply, sanitary, drainage, roofing, gas services, mechanical services, and compliance with workplace health and safety regulations. This course is designed for students from a range of age groups and backgrounds who are seeking to complete an apprenticeship pathway. Graduates will be equipped to work in both residential and commercial/industrial plumbing, carrying out installations, maintenance, and repair work across a variety of environments.

The qualification provides a direct pathway to employment as a registered plumber (subject to licensing requirements in each state or territory).

CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing supersedes and is equivalent to CPC32413 Certificate III in Plumbing.

Course Structure:

In order to achieve this qualification, students must complete 55 units of competency, made up of 39 core units and 16 elective units (electives are chosen to support different plumbing streams such as water, sanitary, drainage, roofing, gas, and mechanical services).

Students must be above 16 years of age.

Academic Requirements:

To enter into the courses delivered at CTA, applicants should have successfully completed Year 10 or Year 11 equivalent.

Mature age applicants without formal education may be considered based on relevant work experience and demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements. Such learners will be accessed for possible RPL opportunities and their course duration and volume of learning will be adjusted accordingly, if any RPL is granted.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (LLN):

Students undertaking this course at CTA must possess sound Numeracy skills since it requires them to do calculations or any other course related work. To determine this, all students wanting to study with us are required to undertake the LLN Test prior to the commencement of the course.  Based on the test outcome, students may be identified as requiring external support services.

The LLN test will be conducted on campus by using an ACSF mapped online LLN assessment tool - LLN Robot.

Students are asked to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy test (LLN) test and achieve expected performance level of ACSF level 3 for CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing

CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing

CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing is the nationally recognised trade qualification that prepares students to become qualified plumbers. It provides the comprehensive skills and knowledge required to carry out plumbing work, including water supply, sanitary, drainage, roofing, gas services, mechanical services, and workplace health and safety. Training covers the use of plumbing tools and equipment, welding, installation of pipe systems, and compliance with regulatory standards. This course is designed for students from a wide range of age groups and backgrounds who are undertaking an apprenticeship pathway. Graduates will be equipped to work in both residential and commercial/industrial plumbing, undertaking installation, maintenance, and repair work.

State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

Completion of the general construction induction training program, as specified in the Safe Work Australia Model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
